About Sherry

Sherry was born in Texas, but grew up in Pullman, Washington where her father was a Professor at Washington State University. She graduated in 1960 from WSU with a BS in Chemistry. Then came marriage and two sons. Sherry and her family lived five years in northern Chile in a mining camp at 10,000 feet. After returning to the States, she moved to Colorado to complete her graduate work, receiving a Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 1986. She joined the faculty at the University of Colorado Medical School in Psychiatry in 1989; her laboratory did research in molecular neuroscience on nicotinic receptors and schizophrenia.
Sherry retired in 2012, as a full Professor and endowed Chair in Children’s Mental Disorders Research. She has always been a writer! As a Professor she published 117 scientific papers and several book chapters. In retirement, she is writing fiction and poetry! Her first novel, ATACAMA, was published in April this year!
